Located next to Porta Superiore, the main doorway of the historical town centre, Palazzo Folicaldi is a beautiful XVII century building (the top floor was added in the XIX century). In the middle of the XIX century, the bishop Giovanni Benedetto Folicaldi had a small private chapel built on the second floor, which was dedicated to Beata Vergine Maria. This palace hosted the Pope Pio IX during his stay in Romagna in 1857.

Built in the XVII century and then modified two centuries later (when the top floor was added), Palazzo Folicaldi has a simple but imposant facade marked by cotto frames.
The facade has a sober and simple style, decorated with brick frames, but the most peculiar aspect of the palace is represented by the chimneypots, which have a very interesting shape.

Rooms are quite small and most of the ceilings are decorated.
The inner courtyard has an interesting hanging porticos overlooking the garden.

The palace is now under refurbishment and it's being restored to host offices and flats.
