TEATRO COMUNALE CARLO GOLDONI - MUNICIPAL THEATRE
Bagnacavallo had a theatre also in the early XVIII century. It was a wooden structure inside the present Palazzo Abbondanza. In 1839, the Municipality decided to built a new theatre hall overlooking the main square, right next to the city hall, on the area formerly occupied by Palazzo Brandolini. The theatre was built between 1839 and 1845 on the design of the Bolognese architect Filippo Antolini (1786 - 1859), and then it was inaugurated in 1845. In 1907 the theatre was named after the famous playwright Carlo Goldoni. His father lived for a while in Bagnacavallo, where he worked as a doctor.
