In Lugo, the weekly market takes place on Wednesday morning and it is one of the most important both in Romagna and in Italy. The setting is really fascinating, as it occupies the whole historical town centre and the main squares located between the two main town monuments: the Este Fortress and the "Pavaglione". Already flourishing in the XV century, it became really important around 1600, thanks to the trading of silk worms and silk products.
