TEATRO "G. ROSSINI" - MUNICIPAL THEATRE
Lugo's municipal theatre is named after the famous musician Gioacchino Rossini, who's life is linked with this town; the theatre was erected between 1757 and 1761 by the architect Francesco Petrocchi, with the help of the architect Antonio Galli Bibiena, who's design can be seen mainly in the interiors and in some finishings. It was named after Rossini in 1859. In 1986 the building underwent some important restoration works. The building reflects the traditional and typical Italian theatre, both in the design and in the structure.
