CASA MONTI
Birthplace of the neoclassical poet Vincenzo Monti, this villa dates back to the middle of the XVIII century. It has been recently restored and turned into a museum.
The house is out of the town centre, in a village formerly known as "Ortazzo". It dates back to the half of the XVIIIcentury and was commissioned by Fedele Maria Monti, father of the famous neoclassical poet Vincenzo.
It has two storeys and several memorial stones on the external walls.
Inside, a wide staircase leads to the first floor, where the museum is located. It consists in three halls: the cradle room "Sala della culla" with antique forniture; the exhibition room where old books and documents are kept and the "Saletta Montiana", which houses a precious marble bust of the XVIII century, several old personal objects of the poet, some letters of Vincenzo and of his daughter Costanza.
The ground floor hosts the information point of the natural reserves "Parco del Delta" and "Riserva di Alfonsine" beside a room where didactic activities and lectures are held.
COMITATO MONTIANO ALFONSINE
Group of literature lovers, that, since long time, actively work to keep alive the attention on the neoclassic poet from Alfonsine Vincenzo Monti. The association organize several important cultural events and runs Monti Museum located at Casa Monti.
For several years, the "Comitato Montiano Alfonsinese" has been working hard in the cultural area, collaborating also with the local Culture Office. It organizes many events not only with the aim to enhance the figure of Vincenzo Monti, but to promote culture in the broadest meaning of the word. Beside this, each year the association publishes a periodical on local traditions and culture essays called "I quaderni Alfonsinesi", it organizes events to commemorate Monti's birthday and death anniversary and runs the local Adults University.
